It really depends on the SPECIES you are looking for. colombian red tails are the most common but can grow to 20 ft in length, weight over 80 lbs, and live 40 years. Female boas are fine, but they do have the potential to get 10 or so feet long but it is the weight that comes with it that makes the female potentially more dangerous for a beginner. People are recommending this breed of snakes Boa's can (most like not) can be Extremely Dangerous and you always need a Bystander. As beginners sure honduras boa's may not get that big but they do have the chance to get large and plus they are a very AGGRESSIVE serpent. read more
