Buddhism is a part of Hinduism because it is a form of the truth and goes back to the original teachings of the Vedic sages, not the teachings afterword. But it can be said the two are different because modern Hinduism is competently different from ancient Vedic Hinduism and so Buddhism can't be considered modern Hinduism. read more
