The chickens had just discovered the plants that day so eating the leaves was something new. Still, I have had rhubarb around for years and other chickens have eaten on the plants. I think they can learn but believing that chickens somehow know what to eat and not to eat doesn't make sense to me. read more

Usually, but not always, if a chicken takes a few bites from a plant that is bad for it, it will feel alittle ill and remember not to eat that one again. Actually the rhubarb might be the one in danger, as the leaves get large, the chickens will find it a nice place to get shade, hide under and begin to to scratch and peck under it until it is ruined. read more
