Can crabs see in the dark?

Best Answers

Without toys, hermit crabs like to hide, or sleep. Providing a dark, hiding spot is important. They like to hide away in small areas to rest. Some hermit crabs spend all day picking at water droplets on the side of the aquarium tank, which you should have. The tank and hermit crabs must be misted with water at least once a day. read more

If so, that's more like what your crabs see. In order to see in the dark, our crabs have their ommatidia (the cells that make up the compound eye) organized in such a way as to maximize light intake. Their eyes are better at picking up movements (you would see it too if you had hundreds of separate pictures to see it in!) than objects most of the time. read more
