Can I be a Buddhist and not believe in Nirvana?

If practices are done and the clear state of consciousness that some refer to as nirvana (or nibbana) is experienced, there is nothing to believe or not to believe. Whatever you imagine Nirvana to be (and believe in) is not remotely accurate, because if it was accurate, that's how it would have been described. So go ahead and maintain your practice in whatever way works for you - belief, non-belief, or something you can't put into words. read more
