In short, yes and no. Without any (or with little) citizenship requirements, it would be possible to become a true citizen of the world. Realistically speaking however, it is impossible. As each nation is able to set its own laws on citizenship, it can take years to gain naturalized citizenship to another country. read more

Yet other countries have mainly untested citizenship requirements (like North Korea, I’ve certainly never heard of anyone naturalising as a North Korean). So even if dual citizenship rules were lifted, you wouldn’t have time in a lifetime to acquire all those citizenships. read more
