I'm going to disagree with this. SOME mugs and glasses are oven safe. But MOST are not. Mugs are more likely to be oven safe and may indicate this underneath. Drinking glasses are likely to shatter under the temperature change unless they are made for this purpose, like pyrex. read more

Fill the mug/glass (the one you want to know whether it is microwavable or not) halfway with water. Microwave it for one minute. If the mug/glass is warmer or hotter than the water then it isn’t microwave safe. If it is cool and the water is hot, the mug/bowl is microwave safe. Note: The area around the mug/ glass filled with water may be warm. read more
