So if radiation(any) that causes the error to remain will cause mutation. As I understand, ionizing radiations cause damage to DNA and cause errors to not be corrected. Infra radiation does not cause the (per se) but if my a very unfortunate chance it causes the errors to remain then maybe. read more
Radiation can cause mutations in two different ways: Direct effect : radiation breaks bonds in DNA, this breaks the strands and mutation can occur when it is not properly repaired.
