Like any other cat, they are capable of short bursts of great speed, but seldom keeps it up for long. I’m not sure how they compare to other cats on pure speed of running. However, Maine Coons are great athletes - at least most of them - and they are very smart about it. We currently have 3 Maine Coons. read more

As for the suggestion that you go to an animal shelter instead of getting a Maine Coon, there are Maine Coons, even registered ones, who desperately need homes. If you decide to get a Maine Coon, check out Maine Coon rescue sites. read more
