Naturally, most palm trees don't grow in the Kyoto area. However, tropical Cycadaceae do, which are sort of a palm tree (called Sotetsu in Japanese). A famous example is the Soutetsu"mountain" at the Katsura Imperial Villa (world heritage site) in Kyoto.
