Can pure wild wolves have blue eyes?

Best Answers

No, at least not for absolute pure bred wolves as they do not posses the the gene. However, wolves in North America have, on occasion, bread with domestic canine, therefore leading to the possibility that it presumably could happen, however I have never seen it. read more

The other possibility is a wolf hybrid where a wolf mates with a domestic dog, like a Malamute or a Husky that has blue eyes. Again, a possibility, but an unlikely one. But not impossible. read more

I hear two completely different answers, yes most definately it is possible and no it's completely not true, yet I know somebody who has a wolf in their backyard who has been proven to be pure Tundra wolf (with only a little PURE coyote in her) and she has two brown eyes but her one eye has a big splotch of blue in it. read more

Not blue or purple, no. Despite the numerous pictures and toys depicting wolves with blue eyes, only very young cubs whose eyes have just opened have blue eyes. Adults NEVER have blue eyes. However, their eye colour does vary. Their eyes can be brown, orange, yellow or pale green. read more
