Robert Baratheon changed that. By the accepted standards of Westeros, he was only entitled to inherit his seat at Storm's End, and not the Iron Throne. Robert's claim is definitely debatable, it was just an assumption for the sake of the question. The Lannisters did took the throne and they gave it up. Doesn't really give them the right to take it back via deception few years later, IMO. read more
