So far, no tardigrades have been found that parasitize humans. I’m aware of one species of tardigrade (Tetrakentron synaptae) that parasitizes only one species of sea cucumber (Leptosynapta gallieni) found in Brittany; and one species (Echiniscoides hoepneri) that parasitizes a species of barnacle (Balanus balanoides). read more
Many species can be found in milder environments such as lakes, ponds, and meadows, while others can be found in stone walls and roofs. Tardigrades are most common in moist environments, but can stay active wherever they can retain at least some moisture. read more
The tardigrade has a strong defence against most life threatening circumstances it encounters (dehydrating and dying for a while until conditions improve), but this almost invincible micro-beast is not so resistant to certain types of threats.
