A lot of people think the Tesla Autopilot is autonomous driving when it is not. The driver is still in control of the vehicle when Tesla Autopilot is active - whether or not they have read the Owners Manual or whether or not they pay attention to the instrument panel warning them to keep both hands on the steering wheel. read more

E.G., autopilot is handling the driving duties and you're just sitting in what was traditionally called the drivers seat.
