These bans make it illegal to own apes, but not monkeys. Tennesseans may have any kind of monkey except for a baboon, and apes are not allowed. In Arizona, all monkeys are allowed but apes are not. In Indiana, you can have monkeys and great apes but must have a permit for the apes. read more
If you are seriously thinking about trying to get one, go volunteer at a wildlife rescue or zoo and see what it is really like to have a monkey. They are cute and can be fun but they are not an animal that makes a good pet. read more
Monkey’s are not, and cannot be domesticated like dogs or cats. They WILL do their own thing, often being destructive, aggressive or dirty. Monkey’s are escape artists and very intelligent thinkers, using logic to solve puzzles and work things out. read more
