Can you play blu ray on Wii U?

The games are stored on a proprietary 25GB disc — which is similar to a Blu-Ray in that regard, but is not, in fact, a Blu-Ray. So why it would play Blu-Ray discs is beyond me. read more

Wii U has the ability to play bluray/dvd, the drive is in fact a blu ray drive. However it doesn't have the software to do so. Unless someone hacks it and makes a homebrew bluray/dvd player software. Nintendo doesn't want to pay licensing fees to dvd/blu ray associations to have video playback. read more
