Can you play normal DS games on the Nintendo 3DS?

Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games will display in a lower resolution than Nintendo 3DS games. You can't however use 3DS games on an old DS or DSi, if you aren't sold on the 3D function you can get a 2DS, it doesn't have the hinged screen, but otherwise has all the same features as the original DS only its capable of playing 3DS titles, but with the New 3DS on the market now, games are starting to be developed for that exclusively. read more

Your DS games won't display in 3D. You can't access the Home menu while playing Nintendo DS games on the 3DS. Your 3DS cannot access features or use accessories that accessed slot 2 on the DS. DS games are not compatible with SpotPass or StreetPass. read more
