You cannot store acid in PET bottles, and I would not store oxidising acids like nitric or perchloric in plastic. But PE or PP bottles should be okay for HCl and H2SO4 - for short periods. read more

Concentrated (65%) nitric acid also came in a similar plastic bottle, albeit black plastic, presumably to prevent photo-degradation. So storing acids in plastic bottles is perfectly fine, unless the standard practice has changed in the last 3 years or so. read more
