You can surrender to the handler, but you can no more surrender to a police dog than you can to a police man's gun. The dog is just an extension of the officer controlling it. If you are a criminal hiding in a building and the dog is commanded to find you, it doesn't matter to the dog what you do when that happens - biting you is still his reward. read more

It's up to the K9 officer to control the dog and"release" the dog when the suspect is no longer deemed a threat. So to answer your question, the dog will attack when it receives its attack command, and it will continue attacking until it gets its release command. read more
