While equipment for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and Rock Band 3 seemed to be broadly compatible, a number of the older games were less so, where a Rock Band guitar would not work in Guitar Hero 5, for instance, showing up as a microphone controller instead. read more
While any Guitar Hero controller will work for any Rock Band game, NO Rock Band instrument will work for any Guitar Hero before Aerosmith. Rock Band controllers can be used in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: World Tour, and will be able to be used in every Guitar Hero game to come from now on. read more
