Can you use mid distance spikes for sprinting/jumping?

Best Answers

Not really so mate. Distance spikes are for soft mushy surfaces and the shoes have a lot of flex on the sole. For sprinting, shoes of much harder and stiffer strength are the ones to get, as they are for running on harder surfaces which allows the athlete to bounce off the ground. read more

The construction of distance spikes doesn’t support the foot arch that you need to use when jumping or sprinting, so you can use it but it could result in injury to the feet, ankles, calves or shins and it will probably make your times a bit slower and jumps a bit shorter. read more

If you want to get serious about the 100, you might consider buying sprint shoes, but the middle distance shoes will work well for the hurdles and high jump, so you don't need to buy 3 or 4 pairs of spikes. read more
