Sounds like I was in the same situation as you. 19, only one partner, and on the pill for 2 years, really didn't like the idea of hormones anymore and the coil seemed the only option. I got the copper coil fitted in January and it's been really good for me! Your doctor seems quite biased or perhaps uninformed.. Lots of young women get the coil. read more
