Could the Great Lakes ever empty during a serious drought?

IIRC in the post ice age periods there were times that lake levels dropped below the full water line replacement level and did not release any water for hundreds of years, dropping hundreds of feet. read more

Like many large lakes, the GL are close to a balance to begin with as most of the basin is over Great Lakes water and loses more to evaporation that way. It may have been The Younger Dryas time, a drought risen period. read more

Not only do you have a large amount of evaporation possible, the Post-glacial rebound - Wikipedia becomes an issue, as well as buried river outlets. Most of the lakes were mere plains without the ice ages. read more
