Why do ballet dancers spit on stage?

I have never seen this happen. Professional Ballet Dancers with Russian training may pretend to spit and say "toi toi toi" to ward off the spirit of bad luck ( It sounds as if they are spiting in the devil's eye). read more

Spitting is disrespectful to the people who keep the studio clean, not to mention ballet dancers spend a lot of time lying or sitting on the floor in their off time. For pointe shoes, rosin is the way to go, not water. read more
