I never understood the Judas story. He was chosen by Jesus to fetch the Romans so Jesus could proceed to his Martyrdom and save man. In what way was that a betrayal? R. read more

In one story, he did commit suicide, in another story he did not. Matthew's Gospel tells us at 27:3-5 that Judas repented of what he had done and took the thirty pieces of silver back to the Temple and cast them down at the priests, then went away and committed suicide. read more
Finally he committed suicide. Though these events are described in a time sequence relative to what happened to Judas [i.e. first he regretted, then he returned the silver pieces and then he committed suicide], they are not described in a time sequence relative to what happened to Jesus. They are a parenthesis that explains what happened to Judas. read more
