As far as I know, only a few ancient people realized earth is round, the Hebrews, the Greeks, and possibly the Hindus, with the Biblical verses in Job and Isaiah that mention earth is round has been under debate. read more

Egyptians had no idea about the sphericity of earth, they thought earth was a flat disk floating in the ocean. The Pyramid Texts and Coffin Texts reveal that the ancient Egyptians believed Nun (the Ocean) was a circular body surrounding nbwt (a term meaning "dry lands" or "Islands"), and therefore believed in a similar Ancient Near Eastern circular earth cosmography surrounded by water. read more
