They tried as hard as they could to smash the British at Dunkirk but couldn’t do it, having overestimated the destructive power of airpower. So, no, they attacked hard. And yes, since the British ultimately got out of Dunkirk they got off the hook. And the Luftwaffe seizing the initiative from the Army made that possible. read more

Luftwaffe didn't manage to enter Dunkirk airspace to effectively neither shot at British/French soldiers at the Dunkirk beaches, nor sink the many small/bigger boats/ships evacuating the Allied troops. read more
