The M-1938 Tank Helmet could be worn under the M1 steel helmet for slightly increased ballistic protection, this was seldom done in the field. It was virtually impossible to wear the M1 over an M-1938 Tank Helmet with the M1's liner in place, because the liner's webbing barely fit around the shell of the M-1938 helmet. read more
