I doubt it. Maybe some Nepalese carrier gets close. But flying over the Himalayas is nerve wracking. I used to fly a route from Koln (Cologne, CGN) to Hong Kong. We had a specific airway over the Himalayas with escape routes in case of severe or extreme turbulence. read more

Mt. Everest is 29,000 feet high, and airliners can above 40,000 feet, so they are certainly capable of it. However, typical flight routes do not travel above Everest as the mountains create unforgiving weather and poor options in an emergency. read more

Furthermore, those flights do not fly around Everest, as that would mean going into China airspace. They just do a figure-8 about 25 km south of the massif staying clearly in Nepal all the time. No airliners don't fly over Mount Everest. Not because it is too high, because, large aircrafts do fly from above the height of Mount Everest, but they don't fly just over it -- I guess it is the environmental reasons. It's like, they can, but they don't. read more
