For example, a compelling story and characters can easily make you forget or forgive egregious misrepresentations of scientific techniques or massive gaps in logic/underlying mechanistic theories of things like faster than light travel, designer genetic engineering, cybernetics etc. read more

Conversely, many scientists have dabbled in science fiction, writing a few short stories or one or two novels, without ever intending to make a career out of it. I would certainly put myself in that category. read more
