Right, most animals do not have actual names for each other but can easily recognize and differentiate calls from familiar others. Our horses here absolutely recognize and call to each other as do the geese and my cats know each others voices as well. read more

AFAIK, animals cannot address "messages". They do recognize specific individuals and they may "communicate", but I don't think to the level of thoughts and ideas. Best I can tell they can offer scent clues to each other. but cannot otherwise exchange experiences. read more
