No not in first year. First year focuses on developing your hand skills... drafting, sketching etc. Though you would have classes regarding autocad, sketchup, office etc. Starting in first year, but you would be using college computers for that. read more

Yes you do require a laptop from first year because you would be given n number of projects, presentations to prepare on. And if you can manage it from college itself than is fine you can survive without one.
