If you take a pin and it "sticks" in the black spot (ie. if there is actually a little hole there), then it's likely to be a cavity. If there's no hole then it might just be a stain, but often what starts out as a stain later becomes a cavity, so it's really best to make an appointment with your dentist to get it checked out, particularly if it's quite big. read more
