A modern car tire does not have an inner tube. The tire has an internal liner and bead bundles on the inner edges that seal the tire to the rim. This keeps the tire on the rim and allows it to be filled with air. This means there is no need for an inner tube. Heavy construction equipment, trucks and buses still use tires that require an inner tube. read more
Tires have flats. A flat in a tire with an inner tube can be easily repaired by the roadside using hand tools and a spare tube. It is possible to put a car style tire on a bicycle, but it would be harder to get off for repair due to stiffer sidewall, and harder to fix since you have to glue a patch onto the puncture instead of swapping tubes. read more
Tyres can be with or without inner tubes. Tubeless tyres work by the tyre creating a seal against the rim when they are pumped up. You can tell by looking at the valve stem where you put the air in. If it is fat at the bottom just before it goes into the rim, it is tubeless; if it is the same length all the way then it is a tube. read more
