Although, the gesture was quite thoughtful, none of us felt comfortable eating home cooked food unless it was from someone’s family member or people we knew, and even then, there’s a risk. I guess there’s a risk of food contamination regardless of who cooks it. read more

Typically food, same as most people. Just like any other group it will vary greatly and depending on the type of shift will also depend. Some bring food from home, some eat out, if they are station based units they cook normal meals. read more

So here is my take away: (A) firefighters are adept at making some darn good eats, (B) they buy their own food and (probably) wouldn’t turn down a cake, turkey, leftovers from a trade show or photo shoot, (C ) if you have recipes that are yummy, cost efficient, foolproof or can stop mid-way, share them with your firehouse, and (D) bring gifts – I asked Larry to whip up a batch of his Larry’s Famous Brownies for the visit. read more
