Do magnetic block heaters work?

Best Answers

It works great but magnets don't work on alloy. I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 which has an aluminum alloy oil pan. The magnets do not work on pans like these. I was able to wedge the heater between the framing and the pan and then I held it in place against the pan with a piece of old radiator hose pressed against the back of the heater - LOL. read more

The magnetic block heater is a poor performer because it has poor thermal transfer. It all depends on what you what to heat. A model of your machine with engine type, the storage location and availabity to power would be helpful. Last week a poster asked if a 60 watt magnetic heat would do for his machine. read more
