Many of the reporters at the daily newspaper were Bahraini, and spoke fluent English. Many of the Bahrainis I met outside of work also spoke average to good English. Private schools in Bahrain (which cater primarily to Bahrainis) mostly offer bilingual English and Arabic education, so this is not a huge surprise. read more
