As for GMA it is live 7–9 am Mon-Fri on the east coast and broadcast to the ABC affiliates. The network records it on a server and plays it back from 8–10 for the central zone affiliates and 10–12 for the west coast. read more
GMA (even on weekdays) is broadcast out of NYC from at 7:00 and is recorded for the west coast, with the hosts hanging around for updates on the West coast if necessary. There are also time slots left for Ads and"Local" segments (Note: even on the East coast they have these, and they run at EXACT times - called 'Hard Hits' and there are people, and software to tell the director exactly HOW long it is till the next hard hit - I wrote the software GMA used/uses (not sure if still in use). read more
