Yes, there is a huge comprehension gap, since sectarian religion is of no significance in England and Wales, ( Scots understand it, though, and far better than they care to acknowledge). read more

There is a general feeling that while people from the Republic of Ireland are lovely, the people from Northern Ireland, on both sides of the divide, are a bit crazy and seem to enjoy killing each other over a religious difference that the rest of the world stopped caring about generations ago. read more

Great Britain is unwilling to meet Northern Ireland's eyes. Which is a shame, because British people could learn a lot by taking a long hard look at it all. 2012 marked the centenary of the Ulster Covenant, a declaration of loyalty to the UK signed by half a million people; Ulster loyalists are still this devoted to their British identity. read more
