The short answer is, yes. Individuals with Down syndrome have a decrease in IQ of approx. 30-40 points. If an individual would've been born with an IQ of 160, for example, their IQ with Down syndrome would still put them with an above average IQ. read more

The truth is, children with Down syndrome can have normal IQ. All kids with Down syndrome are unique and we can not make sweeping generalizations (as all children are unique).
