Since antidepressants (whether SNRIs like Effexor or any other class or drug), and all other psychiatric psychotropics are known to cause neurological side effects (including Parkinsonism in particular), and can cause significant neuroplastic changes and are fundamentally neurotoxic, we cannot necessarily identify drug-induced states as non-degenerative or free from morphological alterations in trying to distinguish them from Parkinson’s as a primary condition. read more

The dopamine blocking agents (resperidal and zyprexa) can cause a drug induced parkinsonism and it can take many months after discontinuation for resolution. In some cases things don't resolve off the medications, and actually progressively continue to worsen. read more
