Is simple a scavenger can eat an alive animal, therefore if the food is too heavy for it the only thing to do is to break that food into bits either by eating or hiding it (hyenas do hide) but for vultures is by eating it or flying with it on its mouth to a safe place unlike Eagles use legs to carry (talons). read more

Recently there were rats found in two of my neighbor's garages. We have Turkey Vultures and have seen them carry off a rat and they have carried off 3 out of 6 baby ducklings. So what they do is, they soar up in the sky a few hundred feet above the Turkey Vulture. And when the Turkey Vulture smells a meal, they follow him down and take it from him. The Black Vultures are the more aggressive of the two. read more
