When I'm speaking German, I'll pronounce it (vaguely) like ‘Be (as in Becket) - Em (like in empathy) - Ve (like in vexing, only longer)’. ‘Bey-Em-Vey’ is reasonably close, I guess. When speaking English, ‘Bee-Em-Doubleyou’ comes more naturally. VW is the same. read more

When I was a kid, I heard, and pronounced it, the second way. Then I was corrected and told to pronounce it the first way, which never sounded right to me, but oh well. Today, I heard a person from the Caribbean pronounce it the second way, accent on the second syllable. You can't win. read more
