You have got to know what to look for. The Bauhaus shown is a high end horn with a real good reputation - not a cheap horn. Chinese get a bad rap; but, some of the horns are just horrible. Actually, I know a local pro tenor player who tried a cheap Chinese saxophone, and ended up buying nothing but the mouthpiece the dealer was throwing in with it because he liked it so much. It cost him like $30. I've heard him play and he has a nice big straight ahead sound. read more

E-bay currently show Chinese manufactured metal mouthpieces which look well made and designed, and which seem to be based on well known American and Japanese brands. At £27, post free, they look worth trying, except that the given size range of 5 to 12 means little in terms of tip openings etc. read more
