Does basalt have pisolitic habit?

Best Answers

No. Pisoliths are small accretionary formed in porous rocks, like a concretion. They are formed by nucleation and deposition of mobile cations. They can appear in porous tuffs but not a dense, impermeable rock like basalt. However, textures resembling pisoliths can probably be formed at the base of basalt flows when it flows over gravel. read more
