Probably not direct descendants. She had no biological children and though she adopted a daughter, Gertie, no one seems to have much idea of what happened to Gertie after 1900. read more

Tubman was born Araminta Ross but later married John Tubman, a free black man, and following the nuptials she took her mother’s first name, Harriet. The couple never had any children, and after dropping her maiden name, she became more closely linked to the Tubman family. read more
