Does one need a car to live comfortably in the Bronx?

I recently (2 years ago) moved back to the Bronx and have been residing in Kingsbridge, near the corner of 231st and Broadway. Originally from New Jersey, having a car was a necessary part of my day to day life. After about 6 months in the Bronx, owning a car was becoming the worst part of my life. read more

If I worked in the Bronx or in another borough (not manhattan) I would def say it would be worth to have a car in the Bronx. I usually will use my car on the weekends if I want to go shopping and stuff so it is convientent in that aspect. But I would honestly say no, you do not need a car to live comfortably in the Bronx. read more

If you live in one of the less fashionable neighborhoods in Brooklyn or Queens (or just about anywhere on Staten Island) the case for needing a car in the city is pretty easy to make. I will agree that one of the great things about many NYC neighborhoods is that one does not need a car. read more
