Yes. The rabies virus is very frazile and get destroyed immediately when exposed to sunlight or heat. The transmission occurs only when the virus in the saliva enters in to the body by deep bite wounds. Immediate washing of the rabied dog bitten site with soap or antiseptic solution can prevent infection. read more

The rabies virus is very fragile and can survive only for few minutes at temperature above 122 F, few hours at room temperature, and the virus is not longer infectious or hazardous when the secretions containing it (like saliva) become dry.
