26 February 1944 - The Rice NROTC Unit commissions its first class of graduates. In all, 80 men are commissioned as officers in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. July 1946 - V-12 program ended at Rice. NROTC program continues with 32 students. July 1953 - Ten Rice NROTC students are killed in an aircraft accident while on active duty for training. read more
