Does riding a bike mostly on high rpm damage the engine?

It depends on “What” bike you are riding. Rev-free engines, as the name indicates that you can rev till the redline without causing any trouble. The rev limiter works brilliantly at right time, the liquid cooling keeps the engine at optimum temperature, etc. read more

High rpm won't damage anything unless you keep it there for extended periods of time, specially on a non oil cooled engine where heat takes time to dissipate. It would, as already mentioned, make the engine work more, thereby reducing the fuel economy. Just avoid doing that on a cold engine and you would be fine. read more

For example lets assume a guy driving at 25kmph , most people will upshift to top gear and maintain RPM under 1500RPM. They feel as if they are burnign less fuel as they are riding at lower RPM . But actauly the engine will be lugging . This can damage the engine in due course of time. read more
